Unquiet

I found my inspiration for this poem at The Creative Coven (@TheCreativeCoven) on Facebook and Instagram. They are working toward memorializing the fate of more than 600 people accused of witchcraft by the Church who went unnamed during the witch hunts in Scotland in the Middle Ages. Mind you, more than 4,000 women, men, and children were murdered by the church who demonized them as witches and satan worshippers. These people, many of whom were independent women, healers, property owners, were tortured, strangled, and burned over the course of more than 200 years.
Currently The Creative Coven is calling on all artists to sketch self portraits to represent the nameless who were murdered. If you sketch, please go to Facebook or Instagram and check out The Creative Coven.
The background photo in this image was found through unsplash.com and the photographer is Lance Reis. Check him out, his work is amazing. Thank you, Lance!
