Missing the Signs
by M.J. Compton

Set in the savvy town of Syracuse in Upstate New York, Missing the Signs by M.J. Compton is one baseball/sports/romance hard ball that gets hit outta the ballpark every single inning – oops! I mean chapter.

Caroline Maplethorpe has worked hard to bench her wild-natured past, but Winslow Winthrop Winston the Whatever— hunky pitcher for the Saltboilers—throws a curve ball when he recognizes and calls her out in front of her family, including James Maplethorpe, her domineering father and owner of the Saltboilers.

At last Win Winston has found the summer fling wild child (aka Carrie Thorpe) who ravaged his heart and imprinted on his soul ever since she disappeared from his life seven years earlier. But apparently Caroline Maplethorpe is having none of it.

M.J. Compton takes us to the World Series of Love with this hilarious, full-of-surprises, sexysteamyhotsizzling tale of two lovers. Caroline-who is afraid to strike out-and Win-determined to find his lover’s sweet spot-leaves the reader as breathless as if they’d just ran all the way home after clearing the bases .

Missing the Signs has the reader out of their seats doing the wave, urging Carrie and Win on as they struggle to find where their ending ended and how to begin again.

Second Chance Romance at its best!

The plot was just twisting enough to leave me gasping in surprise, solid enough for me to check out when the season opener is, and steamy enough for me to cheer out loud and wake my hubby when Win and Carrie finally hook up.

But . . . yes, there’s a but. Can their past be salvaged and future protected? Can their secrets stay secured?

Can Carrie figure out how to keep her eye on the pitcher’s mound when her world is falling apart around her?

Will Win survive if Carrie refuses to sign up for his season pass?

Head over to Amazon, Kobo, Barnes and Noble, and everywhere else home run romances are sold and meet the Maplethorpes, the Saltboilers and everyone else that packs the stadium for this quirky hot favorite spring and summer read!

About the Author

MJ Compton grew up near Cardiff, New York, a place best known for its giant—a hoax so successful, P.T. Barnum duplicated it. The tale of the “petrified man” taught MJ that inventing stories could be a career.

Although her 30 years in local television included such highlights as being bitten by a lion, preempting a US President for a college basketball game, giving a three-time world champion boxer a few black eyes, and meeting her husband, MJ never lost her dream of creating her own stories.

MJ still lives in upstate New York with her husband. Music and cooking are two of her passions, and she enjoys baseball, college basketball, and sitting on her patio on summer nights to count lightning bugs, but she’s primarily focused on writing.
