Happy National Dog Day

My Fur Grandson Miso!
My FurNephew Jet

I opened my work computer this morning to find the cutest little Corgi Icon in the Search Bar. Not knowing what today was, I sent a text to my kids Anthony and his wife Jo (the parents of my furgrandson Miso) and told them to give my furball some loving from grandma.

And that’s how I found out today was National Dog Day! So here I am on my lunch break bragging about not only the most amazing FurGrandson in the Universe (yes, because Miso is so amazing he is the Corgi from OuterSpace), but also my super very special FurNephew, Jet.

Both of these now fully grown pupsters hold huge portions of my heart. My life would be empty without either of them

Miso came into our lives just before COVID hit. I got to see him the day his furmom and dad picked him up but shortly after that we went into lockdown. It was horrible not being able to watch him grow up those first few months.

Finally, come summertime we were able to head outside and sneaked in a visit or two.

He won us over immediately. Miso is a ball of energy and loves playing and running, whether it’s through fields of grass or tunnels of a foot or two of snow.

The very wonderful thing about this doggie is that he’s also the BEST snuggler. He’s a great healer also, and knows when the human he loves and is spending time with is not feeling well and needs extra cuddles and lovin’.

Ant says he always knows when they are nearing grandma and grandpa’s exit on the Thruway because he starts yapping and staring out the window. He’s got two sets of grandparents at this exit, and also a couple of aunties and uncles so no wonder he gets excited!

My Furnephew Jet has also been in my life since the day my sister Jeana picked him up. He was the cutest little furball, no bigger than our two hands cupped together. (And wow, look at him now!) I’ll never forget how Uncle David’s face lit up when he walked in from a hard day at work only to be greeted by this black little bundle of love who couldn’t stop licking his face.

We’ve watched Jet grow up into a very “handsome, scary dog” (he loves when his mama says that) but actually he’s a mush once you get to know him.

Rotties do get a bad rap sometimes, and yes there were times he spooked me, but I trust this guy with my life and I know my sister is well protected when he is by her side.

I could go on and on about my furbabies, and post a ton more pictures, but I only had a quick lunch break to do this and its almost over.

I would like to give honorable mention to another sweet pupster who we aren’t related to, but fills our almost daily life with love! Our neighbor, Ollie! He’s David’s buddy and usually gets David hugs and kisses before I do when David gets home from work. That’s okay, it gives me a few extra minutes to finish preparing dinner! Thanks, Ollie!

So let me know about your furball doggiebabies. And post some pictures of your very own lovebuckets.

And remember, dogs are a woman’s best friend, too!

Happy National Dog Day!

Love, Janina

In loving memory of my sweet MerMer (and his catbro, Meade). May they be forever running and snuggling together, best buds always.
